4-Star OT Jarvis Strickland Decommits from Kentucky Amid Growing Interest from SEC Rivals
In a surprising turn of events, four-star offensive tackle Jarvis Strickland has officially decommitted from the University of Kentucky, reopening his recruitment and sending shockwaves through the Wildcats’ 2025 recruiting class. Strickland, a 6-foot-6, 295-pound standout from Buford High School in Georgia, had committed to Kentucky earlier this year but announced his decision to re-evaluate his options via social media on Thursday.
“After talking with my family and giving it a lot of thought, I’ve decided to decommit from the University of Kentucky,” Strickland wrote. “I appreciate everything the staff has done for me. Kentucky will still be a top school for me, but I want to make sure I make the best decision for my future.”
Strickland is ranked among the top 20 offensive tackles nationally and had been viewed as one of the cornerstones of Kentucky’s 2025 class. His powerful frame, elite footwork, and run-blocking ability made him a top target for several major programs. Since his decommitment, schools like Tennessee, Auburn, and Florida have already ramped up their pursuit, and he’s expected to take multiple official visits this summer.
Kentucky’s coaching staff, led by Mark Stoops and offensive line coach Zach Yenser, had worked hard to secure Strickland early. His departure leaves a significant hole in the offensive line group, and the Wildcats will need to pivot quickly to fill the gap with other high-priority targets.
Despite the decommitment, Strickland has not ruled out a return to Kentucky. The program remains in the mix, but now faces stiff competition from other SEC powerhouses.
As summer visits heat up, all eyes will be on where Strickland’s recruitment heads next — and whether Kentucky can get back in the race.
