Tight end Dallas Goedert has been the subject of trade rumors throughout the NFL offseason, but as OTAs approach, reports suggest he and the Eagles are working towards a contract extension to keep him in quarterback Jalen Hurts’ supporting cast for at least the upcoming season.
Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer was first to report that Goedert and the Eagles are attempting to rework Goedert’s contract.
Goedert, 30, was entering the final year of a $57 million contract and set to count upwards of $11.74 million against the cap in 2025, which was a major driving force behind speculation that the Eagles could look to move off the former second-round draft choice who was instrumental in the franchise’s Super Bowl run last season.
Currently, the Eagles have approximately $24.8 million in cap space, so lowering Goedert’s cap number to create some flexibility is likely a driving force behind these negotiations.

Even following dynamic wide receiver A.J. Brown’s arrival prior to the 2022 campaign, Goedert has carved out a niche for himself as one of the Eagles’ most prolific pass catchers.
Last season, Goedert pulled down 42 receptions for 496 yards and a pair of touchdowns in 10 games. He spent the final four games of the season injured reserve after suffering a knee injury against the Baltimore Ravens.
Still, keeping Goedert preserves one of the most explosive offenses in the league, alongside Brown, DeVonta Smith, and Saquon Barkley, maintaining continuity for reigning Super Bowl MVP quarterback Jalen Hurts behind one of the game’s premier offensive lines.
The Eagles have made a habit of securing the homegrown players they believe to be core contributors to lucrative long-term contracts, and it seems as though Roseman and Philadelphia view Goedert in that category
