Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah has signed a new contract with Liverpool keeping at the club for two more seasons.
Salah’s been in impressive form for Liverpool this season in all competitions. His impressive week in week out form has placed him high up the ranks for the Ballon D’or award this year according to multiple speculators.
The 32-year-old has played all 31 games so far for Liverpool in the Premier League and has scored 27 goals and provided 17 assists. He managed 3 goals and 4 assists from the Champions League before Liverpool were knocked out of the competition by PSG.
The former Chelsea man has scored a total of 32 goals and provided 22 assists in 45 games for The Reds in all competitions so far this season.
Mo Salah has put pen to papers today, extending his stay at Anfield by another two seasons.
Salah after signing his new contract with Liverpool said: “Of course, I’m very excited. We have a great team now. Before, also we had a great team. But I signed because I think we have a chance to win other trophies and enjoy my football.
“It’s great, I had my best years here. I played eight years, hopefully it’s going to be 10. [I’m] enjoying my life here, enjoying my football. I had the best years in my career.
“I would like to say to [the fans], I am very, very happy to be here. I signed here because I believe we can win a lot of big trophies together. Keep supporting us and we’ll give it our best, and hopefully in the future we’re going to win more trophies.”
Salah’s new contract extension comes as a huge relief to Liverpool fans who feared losing Salah for free this summer as they are expected to lose wingback Trent Alexander-Arnold who is set to join Real Madrid this summer for free.
In a pre-West Ham game press conference Liverpool manager Arne Slot expressed his happiness with his keyman’s decision to remain at Anfield.
Slot said: “I’m happy, of course. He’s shown at this club for so many years in a row now how much value he has for the team and for the club.
“So, as like I assume all our fans and his team-mates, we are very happy that he extended for two more years and hopefully he can show on Sunday again how important he has been for the whole season to us.”
Since Arriving at Anfield in 2017, Mo Salah has made 394 appearances for Liverpool across all competitions, scoring 243 goals and providing 109 assists.
