Breaking: Philadelphia Eagles announce 5 new hires and more under head coach Nick Sirianni

The Philadelphia Eagles have some exciting changes coming in 2025 under head coach Nick Sirianni.

Not only have the Birds hired five new coaches to the staff, but they have also officially promoted two other coaches within the organization.

Let’s get to know the new faces.

Scot Loeffler: Quarterbacks Coach

The Eagles hired former Bowling Green head coach Scot Loeffler to be Jalen Hurts’ new quarterback coach, which is an interesting hire.

Loeffler makes the move back to the NFL after going 27-41 in six seasons at Bowling Green.

Loeffler’s coaching experience is primarily from college, but he does have one NFL season on his resume. In 2008, he worked with the quarterbacks at the Detroit Lions before returning to college and joining Urban Meyer at Florida in 2009.

While Loeffler, a former Michigan quarterback himself, doesn’t have a lot of NFL years under his belt, he has coached plenty of notable quarterbacks throughout the years, including Tim Tebow, Tom Brady, Brian Griese, Logan Thomas, Anthony Brown, Chad Henne, Drew Henson, and John Navarre.

Parks Frazier: Passing Game Coordinator

Parks Frazier replaces Kevin Patullo as the Eagles’ passing game coordinator. He joins the Birds after spending 2024 as the Miami Dolphins’ offensive assistant.

A former Murray State quarterback from 2012-14, Frazier played a role in helping Dolphins’ quarterback Tua Tagovailoa lead the NFL with a career-high completion percentage (72.9%) and a 101.4 passer rating.

What makes this hire so great is that Frazier has past coaching ties to Sirianni after he began his coaching career with the Indianapolis Colts in 2018. He worked two seasons as the assistant to the head coach (2018-19) before being promoted to offensive quality control in 2020, which he when he crossed paths with Sirianni.

Frazier also worked as the Colts’ assistant quarterbacks coach (2021-22), and pass game specialist (2022).

Greg Austin: Assistant Offensive Line Coach

Greg Austin returns to Philly after spending two seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars, serving as the assistant offensive line coach (2024) and offensive quality control coach (2023).

While in Jacksonville, Austin helped develop an offensive line that allowed the seventh-fewest sacks (32) in 2024.

Austin previously worked with the Eagles as an assistant offensive line coach from 2013-15. He was a part of the coaching staff when quarterback LeSean McCoy led the NFL with 1,607 rushing yards.

Montgomery VanGorder: Offensive Quality Control

Montgomery VanGorder helped recruit and develop quarterbacks at Georgia under offensive coordinator Mike Bobo for six seasons before joining the Eagles.

If you are a college football fan, the name “VanGorder” more than likely sounds familiar to you since he is the son of former Georgia and Notre Dame defensive coordinator, Brian VanGorder.

Montgomery VanGorder is also a former quarterback himself, playing under Brian Kelly at Notre Dame from 2014-17 before transferring to Youngstown State to finish his college career.

This will be VanGorder’s first coaching job at the NFL level, and it’s very fitting since he will reunite with six former Dawgs and fellow two-time CFB national champs in Philly: defensive tackle Jordan Davis, edge rusher Nolan Smith, linebacker Nakobe Dean, defensive tackle Jalen Carter, cornerback Kelee Ringo, and safety Lewis Cine.

Cole Peterson: Assistant to Head Coach Nick Sirianni

Cole Peterson joins the Eagles after serving as executive director of football operations (2023-24) under head coach Trent Dilfer at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. During his first year at UAB in 2023, Peterson was a finalist for the FootballScoop Football Operations Director of the Year Award.

He started his career in 2021 as a 22-year-old director of football operations/player personnel director at Youngstown State, the youngest individual to hold that title in college football.

Eagles Announce Two Promotions

In addition to the new hires, the Eagles also made two promotions official.

Kevin Patullo, who previously served as the Eagles’ passing game coordinator and associate head coach, replaces Kellen Moore as that team’s new offensive coordinator. Patullo enters his fifth season with the Birds and overall 16th in the NFL.

The Eagles also promoted Tyler Yelk to defensive assistant. Yelk served as the head coach of quality control in 2024 and as the assistant to the head coach one year prior.
