Barcelona Willing To Discuss New Deal With Szczesny

Spanish side Barcelona are reportedly interested in keeping Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny at the club for another season

Wojciech Szczęsny joined Barcelona in October of 2024 coming out of a brief retirement from football to replace German goalkeeper Marc Ter Stegen who ruptured his patellar tendon in September of the same year.

Szczęsny has been in outstanding form since joining the Catalan giants. He has only conceded 2 goals in 6 Laliga matches, keeping 4 clean sheets this season.

Italian journalist, Fabrizio Romano reports that Barcelona are currently open to discussing terms for new deal with Szczęsny.

Fabrizio Romano stated: “The club and the coaching staff remains very happy with his impact on and off the pitch.”

“Final, personal decision will be up to Szczesny.” He added.

Fabrizio also added that the club are not in a hurry to discuss new deal with Szczęsny. He clarified that the discussion could take place in weeks or even months to come.

Szczęsny and Barcelona currently sit on top of the Laliga table with goal difference ahead of rivals, Real Madrid, but the Catalans currently have an outstanding game in hand, after their weekend clash with Osasuna was postponed.

Szczęsny and Barcelona will focus on their Champions League clash on Tuesday, as they welcome Benfica at home for the second leg of the Round of 16 clash. Barcelona currently lead the Portuguese side, by a goal to nil on aggregate.
