Analyst Names Ex-Panthers RB a ‘Super Sleeper’ Now That He’s on Cowboys
Could a change of scenery be exactly what former Panthers running back Chuba Hubbard needed? One NFL analyst seems to think so. In a recent segment, ESPN’s Matt Bowen labeled Hubbard a “super sleeper” for the upcoming 2025 NFL season following his offseason move to the Dallas Cowboys.
Hubbard, who spent the past three seasons in Carolina, showed flashes of brilliance but never fully broke through as a consistent feature back. With the Panthers leaning heavily on committee backfields and frequently changing offensive strategies, Hubbard often found himself sharing touches or playing behind inconsistent lines.
Now, with a fresh opportunity in Dallas, the former Oklahoma State standout could be set for a major leap. The Cowboys’ offense—led by quarterback Dak Prescott and featuring one of the league’s top offensive lines—offers a much more stable and explosive environment. With Tony Pollard now in Tennessee and the backfield depth chart wide open, Hubbard has a real shot at carving out a significant role.
“He’s got burst, he’s got vision, and he’s in a system that’s going to give him space,” Bowen said. “Don’t be surprised if he ends up being one of the most efficient backs in the NFC.”
In 2024, Hubbard rushed for 843 yards and 5 touchdowns while averaging a solid 4.3 yards per carry. His ability to catch passes out of the backfield also adds versatility to a Dallas offense looking to stay balanced and explosive.
