Amorim Defends Onana After Europa League Mistake

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has defended goalkeeper Andre Onana after a mistake cost Manchester United an aggregate lead in the UEFA Europa League.

The Europa League Quarterfinal first leg match between Manchester United and Olympique Lyonnais ended in a 2-2 draw after Andre Onana’s mistake led to a Rayan Cherki equalizer in the 90+5 minute of the game.

Ruben Amorim defended Onana in a post match interview where he said: “If you look at the season I’ve made more mistakes than them during these last games and during these last months.

“There’s nothing I can say to Andre in this moment that will help him, so the most important thing is to be natural and then when the time comes I will choose the best XI to play. But I’m really confident in Andre.”

Manchester United will host Lyon in the returning leg of the Quarterfinal clash next week but they will first take a trip to Newcastle this weekend in the Premier League.
