Brazil have sacked head coach Dorival Junior after losing to Argentina 4-1 in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers on Tuesday.
Dorival Junior’s Brazil currently sit fourth in the South American qualification table having lost 5 out of 14 games played so far. Although Brazil still sit comfortably in the qualifying zone, the Brazilian Football Confederation are unhappy with team’s performance.
The 62-year-old’s sacking comes after just fourteen months in charge of the five time World Cup winning side. In those fourteen months, Dorival coached Brazil for 16 games, winning seven, with six draws and three losses.
A statement from the Brazilian Football Confederation announcing Dorival’s sacking read: “The board wishes him success in his continued career. From now on, the CBF will work to find a replacement.”
