Breaking News: Done Deal!! Bruins confirms Super Deal For a Physically talented Forward

The Boston Bruins missed the playoffs this past season and may be looking to shake up their roster this summer.

A recent trade between the Bruins and the Utah Hockey Club that could benefit both sides:

Bruins receive:

Matias Maccelli

Utah Hockey Club receives:

Joonas Korpisalo

2026 fourth-round pick

2027 sixth-round pick

This hypothetical trade could work well for both teams. Boston would gain a young middle-six forward in Maccelli, who has one year left on a three-year, $10.28 million contract. He would inject some youth and offensive skill into Boston’s lineup. While Maccelli struggled last season with just 8 goals and 10 assists in 55 games, he previously posted a strong 57-point campaign, suggesting a change of scenery might reignite his game.

In return, Utah would get Korpisalo—Boston’s backup goalie—and two later-round draft picks. Korpisalo, who came over in the Linus Ullmark trade last offseason, still has three years remaining on his five-year, $20 million deal. He went 11-10-3 with a 2.90 GAA and a .893 save percentage. In Utah, he could share net duties with Karel Vejmelka in a solid tandem.

Korpisalo Seeking Trade From Bruins

Boston brought in Joonas Korpisalo from the Ottawa Senators as part of the Linus Ullmark trade to serve as Jeremy Swayman’s backup.

However, Korpisalo saw limited action, which left him dissatisfied. According to NHL insider James Murphy of RG.com, Korpisalo is now actively seeking a trade.

“I’m hearing his name out there more and more,” an NHL executive told RG Media. “He’s not happy and believes he earned more ice time. He’s very open to exploring other options.”

Murphy also reported that Korpisalo’s name surfaced in trade discussions at the deadline, but the Bruins opted not to move him.

“They were getting calls, that much I know,” a league source said. “How serious those talks got, I can’t say, but there was definite interest.”

Korpisalo later expressed his displeasure with his role following the conclusion of Boston’s season.

Korpisalo Vented Frustration With His Role With The Bruins

After the conclusion of Boston’s season, Korpisalo expressed frustration with his limited playing time.

Korpisalo believes he has the talent to be a starting goalie in the NHL. With just 27 appearances this past season, he is eager for more ice time, whether that’s with Boston or another team.

“I don’t think any goalie in the league is really comfortable playing just 20 to 25 games,” Korpisalo said during a media session on April 17. “So, I’m going to push for more games and see where it leads. I was upfront at the start of the season, and you always try to give your best and earn more opportunities.”

Korpisalo added that he will continue to put in the work to earn more starts, as that’s the only path forward for him. As a former NHL All-Star, he remains confident in his ability to prove his worth
