Fromer Detroit’s lion wife Kelly Stafford Speaks Out in Support of Jordon Hudson’s Right to Privacy in Belichick Controversy
Kelly Stafford spoke up in support of fellow football WAG Jordon Hudson amid a tense week for Hudson and her boyfriend Bill Belichick.
Hudson, 24, drew attention over the weekend when she dodged a question about how she and Belichick, 73, met during an interview that aired on CBS Sunday Morning on Sunday, April 27.
“I think it’s fair game both ways,” Stafford, 35, said on the Thursday, May 1 episode of her The Morning After podcast. “If she doesn’t want to talk about it, then they don’t have to talk about it.”
Kelly Stafford has been married to Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford since 2015.
Although Kelly backed Hudson’s right to stay private, she agreed with her cohost, Hank Winchester, who said it was wrong for Hudson to interrupt the interview.
“I agree with that,” she responded.
Kelly added that Hudson should’ve anticipated the topic, especially since she and Belichick have made their relationship public on social media.
“Bill Belichick, you never really saw him much on social media, and now he’s all over it with her,” Kelly said. “There is some responsibility in knowing questions will come because they’re so open about their relationship.”
She also pointed out that the buzz around Hudson and Belichick’s relationship shows how wild the sports world has become.
“I just think the sports world overall is crazy dramatic right now,” she said. “I get that these guys are more than just athletes. But still, they are athletes. Why is everything so dramatic?”
Belichick backed Hudson in a statement released Wednesday, April 30, by the University of North Carolina, where he was named head coach in December 2024.
The statement said, “Sadly, that expectation wasn’t upheld during the interview. I was caught off guard when unrelated subjects came up, and I repeatedly told reporter Tony Dokoupil and producers I wanted to focus on the book.”
Belichick said Hudson “stepped in” to help “redirect the conversation.”
CBS released a statement the same day, saying the interview had no topic limits.
“When we scheduled our interview with Mr. Belichick, it was meant to be wide-ranging,” a CBS News spokesperson said. “There were no conditions or boundaries. That was confirmed multiple times with his publisher before and after the taping
