Jesse Sapolu played guard and center for the Niners from 1983 to 1997. His career accolades include four Super Bowl rings, 2 Pro Bowl appearances and 182 games played good enough for 10th all time.
Sapolu was the leader of the interior lone of the 49ers. Arguably the best game of his career was the 1989 divisional playoffs, when he was matched up with DPOY Keith Millard of the Vikings. Millard recorded 18 sacks in 1989, but he failed to record a single stop against the Niners as Sapolu took him off his feet on multiple snaps. The San Francisco offense put up 400 yards and 40 points on the day, all against the regular season’s stingiest defense. Those Vikings recorded 71 sacks in 1989, but Sapolu and the Niners line kept Joe Montana clean through 4 quarters.
