The Brazilian born midfielder is currently into the final six months of his contract at Arsenal and is expected to leave the club this summer as a free agent.
According to the Mirror, the former Chelsea has currently flown to Brazil to negotiate with Flamengo over a potential move to the club this summer.
It was reported in February that the 33-year-old has signed a pre-contract agreement with the Brazilian side, though the reports were never confirmed by the player nor the club.
Mirror also reports that Flamengo hope to bring the Italian to Brazil before the commencement of the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States.
Goal Brazil reports that the challenging part of the deal is loyalty bonus. Jorginho’s current deal at the Emirates runs until June 30th, but in order to join the Brazilians before the commencement of the Club World Cup scheduled to kick off June 14th, the Italian would have to forfeit some money.
Goal Brazil also reports that Flamengo could be willing to cover the loyalty bonus in order to land their man as soon as possible.
