JUST IN: 5-Star Tight End Oscar Delp Flips Commitment from Georgia to Texas A&M click on this link for details

Texas A&M

In a seismic shake-up on the college football recruiting trail, Oscar Delp — a 5-star tight end listed at 6’5” and 245 pounds — has decommitted from the University of Georgia and announced his commitment to Texas A&M. The news, which broke early Tuesday morning, sent shockwaves through the SEC and lit up social media as Aggie fans erupted in celebration.

Delp, ranked as one of the top tight ends in the nation for the class of 2025, had been a verbal commit to Georgia for months. Regarded for his elite combination of size, speed, and hands, Delp had long been seen as a cornerstone of the Bulldogs’ future offense. His decommitment represents a rare and significant loss for Georgia, which had banked on his talents to continue their dominant run in the SEC East.

But what Texas A&M gains is nothing short of a game-changer.

“I felt like College Station was where I belonged,” Delp said during a surprise announcement streamed live on social media. “Coach [Mike] Elko laid out a vision for my development not just as a tight end, but as a complete football player and man. The culture, the energy, the support—it just felt right.”

Delp’s recruitment had intensified in recent weeks. While Georgia remained confident in their standing, sources close to the situation say that Texas A&M had made an aggressive push behind the scenes. Texas, LSU, and Arkansas were all in the mix, but it was the Aggies who closed the deal.

Texas A&M’s new offensive scheme, which emphasizes hybrid tight end usage and vertical mismatches, reportedly appealed to Delp’s NFL aspirations. “He’s a matchup nightmare,” said one anonymous SEC scout. “Linebackers can’t run with him, safeties can’t body him up. He’s the kind of tight end who makes coordinators lose sleep.”

Head coach Mike Elko, in just his second year at the helm in College Station, has now landed his highest-rated skill position recruit since taking over the program. His ability to pull a blue-chip prospect away from a perennial powerhouse like Georgia is a testament to the momentum building in Aggieland.

The commitment has sparked renewed optimism among Texas A&M fans, who have been craving a true offensive weapon to anchor their evolving passing attack. With Delp joining a young core of talented receivers and quarterbacks, the Aggies’ offensive future suddenly looks explosive.

While the Georgia Bulldogs have depth at tight end, the loss of Delp is a clear blow to their 2025 recruiting class. For Texas A&M, it’s a signal: the Aggies are no longer content to chase the SEC elite—they’re ready to be one.

Oscar Delp’s decision wasn’t just about geography. It was about vision, opportunity, and belief. And now, it’s about what comes next in College Station.

Welcome to the 12th Man, Oscar Delp. The future starts now.
