JUST IN: NL worried about Brandon Marsh

Has Brandon Marsh Finally Found His Groove?

Brandon Marsh had a rough start to the season. His ongoing struggles against same-handed pitchers continued—and, unexpectedly, he began to falter against opposite-handed pitchers as well. In April, he went hitless in 36 plate appearances. His troubles were soon compounded by a hamstring injury that landed him on the injured list. Aside from his ever-present beard, there wasn’t much to feel optimistic about during that stretch.

However, his time rehabbing in Allentown appears to have had a positive effect. Since rejoining the Phillies, Marsh has posted an impressive .412/.444/.588 slash line. It’s worth noting that this is based on just 18 plate appearances—a small sample size. He also started strong in March before his downturn in April, so caution is warranted before drawing conclusions.

Still, the early signs are encouraging. The question now is whether Marsh has truly turned a corner, or if this recent surge is just another temporary uptick
