Just In: San Francisco 49ers Ink Star Linebacker Jalen Brooks to 3-Year, $45 Million Deal in Major Defensive Boost
In a bold move that’s already sending waves across the NFL, the San Francisco 49ers have officially signed All-Pro linebacker Jalen Brooks to a three-year, $45 million deal, sources confirmed Friday morning. The signing marks a significant defensive investment for the team as they gear up for another Super Bowl push in the 2025 season.
Brooks, 26, spent the last four years with the Baltimore Ravens, where he emerged as one of the league’s top linebackers, known for his sideline-to-sideline speed, instinctual play recognition, and ferocious tackling. He recorded 119 tackles, 6 sacks, and 2 interceptions last season, earning him a Pro Bowl nod and second-team All-Pro honors.
The deal includes $30 million guaranteed, with performance incentives that could push the total value beyond $50 million. Brooks is expected to immediately slot in as the 49ers’ starting weak-side linebacker, bolstering a unit that has dealt with injuries and inconsistencies in recent seasons.
“I couldn’t be more excited to join the 49ers organization,” Brooks said in his first statement as a Niner. “This is a team with championship pedigree and a defense that plays with heart. I’m ready to add to that legacy and bring everything I’ve got to the Bay.”
49ers General Manager John Lynch praised Brooks’ versatility and leadership, calling the acquisition a “perfect fit” for the team’s defensive identity.
“Jalen brings the kind of grit, intelligence, and fire that defines 49ers football,” Lynch said. “He’s a tone-setter on the field and a leader off it. We believe he’ll make an immediate impact.”
With key veterans like Fred Warner and Nick Bosa anchoring the front seven, Brooks’ arrival gives San Francisco one of the most dynamic linebacker groups in the NFL. The move also signals the team’s urgency to capitalize on its championship window following a heartbreaking NFC Championship loss last season.
The 49ers are expected to formally introduce Brooks at a press conference early next week
