ALLEN PARK — Following the weekend’s rookie minicamp practices, the Detroit Lions have added three players and released one.
They signed defensive lineman Raequan Williams, wide receiver Malik Taylor, and tight end Luke Deal. Williams was a previous exceptional defensive lineman at Michigan State, while Taylor played his collegiate football at Ferris State University.
Deal played for six seasons at Auburn, serving as a captain twice. He came out of the draft as an undrafted rookie, whereas Williams and Taylor have both experienced the league.
Williams participated in games with the Philadelphia Eagles and has also been with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Carolina Panthers.
Taylor, who hails from Flint, played three seasons with the Green Bay Packers, two with the New York Jets, and entered the league as an undrafted free agent with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2019.
The Lions additionally released tight end Caden Prieskorn while revealing the three signings.
Prieskorn, hailing from Michigan, divided his five years in college between Memphis and Ole Miss before not being selected in the draft. He recorded 14 touchdown receptions during his last three seasons at Memphis and Ole Miss.
The Lions started the day with two available roster positions, due to the exemption acquired by selecting Boise State edge rusher Ahmed Hassanein. These acquisitions, along with Prieskorn being waived, bring the franchise to the 90-player limit
