The Tennessee Volunteers are making waves on the recruiting trail once again, this time with a highly-touted pass rusher from the 2026 class. Top247 EDGE rusher Malik Grady made his first visit to Knoxville over the weekend, and the trip seems to have left a lasting impression.
“Everything about it was good, honestly,” Grady told reporters following his visit. “The coaches, the facilities, the atmosphere — it felt like somewhere I could really see myself.”
Grady, a 6-foot-5, 240-pound force off the edge from Georgia, has drawn offers from top programs across the SEC and beyond. With his blend of athleticism, speed, and relentless motor, he’s become one of the most sought-after defensive prospects in the country. Tennessee has now positioned itself firmly in the mix.
During his visit, Grady had one-on-one meetings with head coach Josh Heupel and defensive coordinator Tim Banks, who laid out their vision for how he would fit into the Vols’ aggressive defensive scheme. They emphasized player development, early playing opportunities, and the momentum building in Knoxville.
“The coaches broke down how they’d use me, showed me film of their edge guys and how they’re developed — it really stood out,” said Grady.
Grady also got to take in Tennessee’s facilities and spent time with current players, giving him a full picture of the program’s culture and daily life. He praised the energy of the staff and how genuine everyone was during the trip.
With several visits still scheduled this summer — including stops at Alabama, Georgia, and Florida State — Grady says Tennessee has “absolutely” earned a return visit.
If the Vols continue building momentum with Grady, they could be closing in on a massive recruiting win.
