What a $3 million car just told Ravens fans about Eric DeCosta’s draft board

Eric DeCosta woke up in a new Bugatti.

The Baltimore Ravens aren’t hiding their draft priorities. They typically don’t. But when Eric DeCosta calls cornerbacks “Bugattis” and compares their breakdown rate to luxury sports cars, yeah—it’s safe to say he’s shopping for one.

With the 2025 NFL Draft just days away and 11 picks in hand, Baltimore is once again sitting in a position of power. They don’t need to draft for immediate starters. They can reload, future-proof, and let the board fall to them. But if there’s one position that now feels like a guarantee to get addressed? It’s corner.

The depth is thin. The pass defense got cooked last season. And DeCosta isn’t pretending otherwise. Whether it’s Round 1 or Round 6, this team is taking a cornerback. Probably two. And then also adding another defensive back… probably a safety.

Eric DeCosta all but guarantees the Ravens will draft a corner

DeCosta didn’t mince words at his pre-draft press conference:

“It’s always a big need, every single year. You could ask 31 other teams; they’d all say the same thing. Corner is a critical, important position. They break down. They’re like Bugattis, and they just break down… That doesn’t mean we’re going to take a guy in the first round, but I feel pretty sure that we’ll take at least one corner in the Draft.”

That’s as clear as it gets from the Ravens’ general manager.

The Ravens lost Brandon Stephens in free agency. Arthur Maulet was released. Marlon Humphrey and Nate Wiggins are locked in—but that’s basically the end of the list. Veteran Chidobe Awuzie was signed to compete, and second-year corner T.J. Tampa could carve out a role, but depth matters. And Baltimore knows better than anyone how fast it can vanish.

So who’s on the radar?

Benjamin Morrison out of Notre Dame continues to pop up in mocks. He’s a Day 2 target with clean technique, ball skills, and Cover 1 experience—exactly what Baltimore runs. He’s coming off a hip injury, but the upside is obvious. Pairing him with Wiggins could be a dream scenario.

Trey Amos (Mississippi), Maxwell Hairston (Kentucky), and Darien Porter (Iowa State) are all names to circle on Day 2 or 3. Amos is the most polished, with a CB2 floor and scheme versatility. Hairston thrives in off-man and zone. Porter? He’s raw, but a 6-foot-4 burner with receiver ball skills and serious special teams juice. Sounds like a Ravens mid-round pick if there ever was one.

Don’t rule out Jahdae Barron or Will Johnson either—both would probably require a trade-up but offer slot and boundary flexibility. And if they want to swing on pure upside, Shavon Revel (East Carolina) might have the best raw tools in the entire class.

Bottom line: this cornerback class is deep, and the Ravens aren’t just browsing.

They’ve already shown a willingness to reload on the fly—just look at Wiggins stepping in last year and turning the secondary around. Now DeCosta’s hinting that reinforcements are coming. If the board breaks their way, expect another long-limbed, press-happy corner to join the rotation.

Because as DeCosta just reminded the league: Bugattis are fast—but they don’t stay on the road for long. And the Ravens refuse to get strande
